Children's Cottage Society

The Children’s Cottage Society offers a wide range of programs for parents and children in Calgary, Alberta strengthening families by demonstrating leadership through a network of Crisis, Respite, and Support Services. 

“Preventing harm and neglect to all children and strengthening families through crisis, respite and support services” is their misson.

The Children’s Cottage Society believes asking for help is a sign of strength. The Children’s Cottage works closely with other agencies to connect families to appropriate resources that can meet their needs.

You can support them through monetary donations (they are a registered Canadian charity), volunteering in various capacities and donating new and used items. Please see their need list for which items they are accepting.

Famillies Matter

Mission: We strengthen families by creating learning opportunities that build confidence, competence and connection through life’s transitions. 

Vision:  Families Matter is a trusted and respected resource for families and community partners.  

Families Matter is committed to the possibility of confident and inter-dependant families. They are a not-for profit society of 30 staff, 100 volunteers, 70 community partners and 37 major and corporate donors who created and delivered 10,000 learning opportunities for Calgary Families in 2008. They provide learning opportunities that build confidence and strengthen Calgary families and caregivers through life’s many transitions by building on our core values.

Made by Momma is 100% volunteer-run non-profit organization and a registered Canadian charity! Our goal is to help families facing situations of adversity by providing support in the form of homemade meals and baked goods, new and gently used baby and children’s items, a quick house clean/tidy, a friendly, supportive visitor and other services to allow mothers the time they need to focus on themselves, their families and bonding with their children.

Real Diaper Association

Their Mission: The Real Diaper Association is a collective non-profit organization in which parents and small businesses take the lead in creating a cultural shift to increase the use of simple, reusable cloth diapers. We connect current cloth diapering parents to the long history of cloth diapering. Cloth diapers are real diapers. The Association organizes local advocates and activists for cloth diapers through a member-supported resource center which plans campaigns, trains organizers, distributes educational information, supports local groups, and connects users to the Cloth Diaper industry. Local Real Diaper Circles reach users face-to-face with knowledge and tools to make cloth diapering accessible and acceptable to parents, who have the power to change the world one baby at a time.

The Calgary Doula Association 

The Calgary Doula Association is a Canadian non-profit Association. We are committed to providing emotional, physical and knowledge based support for women and their families during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period while promoting a positive, informed birth experience. As you browse though our site, you will learn about doulas and the support they offer throughout your birth and postpartum experience.
